About Karratha Community House
Operating since the 1990s, named in 2004 and incorporated in 2006, Karratha Community House Inc (KCH) is a not-for-profit, community-driven organisation whose mission is to connect families through play-based learning. Our vision is a connected community where all our children can learn and grow.
In our 25+ years of operation, KCH has grown from a small organisation that ran 2 playgroups per week from the local shire hall, to a dedicated facility with a staff of 15 who run a diverse schedule of engaging programs for children aged 0-12, and host a range of community events.
We have been helping to make Karratha a more attractive place for families, especially young families, to live in since we opened our doors.
We offer young children and their carer-givers a safe, friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment. Families and connecting the families is at the heart of our centre. We provide a haven where families can meet and form lasting bonds. Through play-based learning programs, children are given opportunities to develop emotionally, socially, physically, creatively, cognitively and linguistically.
With so many Karratha residents being far away from their support networks, when they move here, KCH is proud to provide children and their caregivers an opportunity to connect. Sessions are attended by a diverse demographic of long-term residents, those new to Karratha, international families and even the many au pairs who are here temporarily.
KCH is proud to curate innovative programming, offering families and their children unique opportunities to play, connect and grow.
We have an amazing team of Facilitators, who come from a range of education and early-childhood backgrounds. The Facilitators are supported by our office team, who work hard behind the scenes in crucial roles of management, administration, quality improvement, and community partnership development.
Family-friendly work conditions, great facilities and resources, and our shared passion for play, child development and community attract incredibly special people to our team.
KCH is governed by an equally passionate Board of volunteers, who oversee the governance, risk management, continuous improvement, and leadership of our organisation. Again, all Board members are locals, and most of them have a special connection to KCH after seeing their own children attend and grow up through our range of programs.
We are proud to call our Staff and Board members family.
