Activities
School’s Out is not school. It is a time for your children to relax and enjoy themselves. There is no compulsion to participate in any particular activity. Children are presented with a choice of activities in specific locations. It could be quiet reading, it could be a board game, it could be a boisterous game outside, it could be a quiet chat with some friends, it could be working on one of the computers. Activities are usually planned with a weekly theme in mind with staff guiding the children to make it a memorable experience.
Background
In 2005 we set out to provide a great service for children and their families. A place where incredibly talented and passionate people could make a positive difference to the lives of children.
Back then we were part of Kidicorp Education and Care Centres but now we are an independent social enterprise wholly owned by the Wright Family Foundation. This means that School’s Out is a not for profit organization with any surpluses being reinvested into the local community. As a consequence, we not only have a positive influence on those directly involved in our centres but we can also play a role in improving the lives of those in the wider society.
As we continue on our journey we attempt to ensure that what we are delivering is the ‘World’s Best’ service delivered by the ‘World’s Best’ people. Although facilities and equipment are important it is really the ideas, talents and energy of the people that is going to make a real difference.
Our Staff
A qualified and experienced manager is employed at each School’s Out centre to ensure the high standard of care, attention and education is maintained consistently. Our staff all enjoy interacting with, and caring for children. They are dedicated to providing your child/ren with the best quality care, recreation and education. Our staff have a variety of qualifications and experience and participate in ongoing training to further develop their skills and knowledge. All staff are police checked and employed in accordance with Ministry of Social Development Standards of Approval. All centres are supported and supervised by a School’s Out National Manager.
Essential Guidelines
ChildcareWe have taken considerable time and care to develop policies and practices that will ensure your child’s safety, security and wellbeing at all times. Copies of our policies are available through our centre office.

Terms & Conditions
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT
This fee schedule may be reviewed from time to time. Where possible at least two weeks notice of any changes will be given. The programme reserves the right to add, amend, clarify or delete terms, conditions or policies by issuing newsletters, notices, or posting notification on one of the programme notice boards.
AGREEMENT TO RULES AND MANAGEMENT PEROGATIVE
You agree to abide by the rules of the Programme as set down from time to time by management, and the expectations set out in the PARENT INFORMATION BOOKLET. Enrolment may be revoked at any time.
PAYMENT TERMS
Our preferred method of payment is by automatic payment, direct debit or EFTPOS if available. Fees must be maintained at least one week in advance at all times. One weeks fees must be paid before your child starts attending the programme. You accept full responsibility for payment of fees for all days enrolled on the basis of the fee schedule that is current at the time. Irrespective of any arrangement with any third party, including Work and Income, you agree to pay the fees. You understand and accept that if any fee or charge remains unpaid beyond the time specified in the Fee Policy, your childs enrolmentmay be cancelled, the debt passed on to a debt collection agency, and that you will be responsible for any costs incurred in this process. Interest may be charged on all overdue balances and any collection costs will be charged to your account.
SIBLING DISCOUNT - 3 OR MORE CHILDREN
- The 50% discount applies to the eldest sibling at the centre and all siblings must be attending Schools Out. The family must not be eligible for a WINZ subsidy.
- Fees are subject to change when an overall review of the fee schedule for the centre is applied.
- If the account payment terms are not adhered to, the discount offer may be withdrawn.
- The enrolment forms and discount agreement form must be completed and accepted prior to the discount being applied.
- The discount is not available to employees of Best Start Educare.
- The offer will end either when the eldest sibling is no longer enrolled at Schools Out or there are no longer younger siblings enrolled at the centre.
DEPOSIT
One weeks fees are to be paid on enrolment, which will be applied to your fees account. This is non-refundable if your child does not start with the programme. If you have already submitted a WINZ OSCAR subsidy application then the deposit is less the confirmed WINZ subsidy amount received.
WORK AND INCOME
If you believe you are eligible for an OSCAR subsidy please read the Work and Income information sheet available at the programme. Even if you are eligible for an OSCAR subsidy, it remains your responsibility to ensure your account is paid in advance at all times and to pay any part of your fees which are not covered by a subsidy. Always ensure your application/renewal is lodged with Work and Income prior to your child attending the programme, or prior to expiry of the current subsidy i.e. an application or declaration form needs to be completed prior to each school holidays and each school term. It is your responsibility to keep Work and Income informed of any changes in circumstances or care arrangements.
ABSENCES
In order to ensure the best care of children in our charge it is important that you inform the programme prior to 12:00pm on the day your child is going to be absent. The normal fee will be charged. **Failure to notify us will incur an additional fee for the time spent confirming your childs safety.
STATUTORY HOLIDAYS
All Statutory Holidays during school term time are charged in full.
TEACHER ONLY DAYS AND FULL/HALF DAY CARE DURING SCHOOL TERM
If your child would normally attend this day for Before or After School care and will not be attending a full day for the Teacher Only Day or any other day where we offer care due to school closures during the term time e.g. Easter Tuesday, you will be charged the normal fee for your Before/After school booking, unless one weeks notice has been given that your child will not be attending. The fee for these days is at the same rate as our Holiday Programme non trip day charge.
LATE PICKUP FEE
The programme is not authorised to care for your child outside of opening hours. A penalty of $25 per 15 minutes (or part thereof) may be charged if you fail to collect your child within the agreed times.
CHANGES & NOTICE PERIODS
We require one weeks notice if you wish to terminate or change your childs booking. Failure to give one weeks notice may result in you being liable for any charges applicable within the one week notice period. Please ensure you advise Work and Income accordingly if appropriate.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
The names of two people, other than the principal caregiver stated on the enrolment form, who (by direction of a person who has custody of the child) are allowed to collect my child or should be consulted if the child is ill or injured or contacted in any emergency situation. No child will be given permission to leave the centre unless the person collecting the child is noted on this form. If the person is not on this form, a written letter signed by the principal caregiver must be presented to the supervisor.
CUSTODIAL ARRANGEMENTS
School's Out requires the names of any persons who are forbidden to have any contact or restricted contact to your child/children. A certified court order needs to be sighted with a copy held by School's Out in order for our centre to prohibit access to the child/children. A photo of this person is to be supplied if available.
In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, I understand my child will be taken to hospital in an ambulance if necessary parents or a contact person will be notified immediately. All medical costs incurred are at the childs Principal caregivers expense. Any child with a fever, rash, sticky eyes, diarrhoea, or vomiting is required to stay home until 48 hours after the symptoms settle.
CHILDREN'S MEDICATIONS
All medications administered to your child by the centre must be handed to the supervisor on arrival at the centre and must be signed in the medication register by a parent or guardian (see Administration of Medicine Policy). For safety reasons, medication must be within the expiry date and if prescribed by a doctor, it must have the correct childs name on it.
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR
We have zero tolerance for physical violence, foul language and intentional damage to property or equipment. Parents/caregivers are notified of any disruption caused by their child. If the behaviour is considered a risk to others your child will be removed immediately and excluded from future attendance. In signing this form, you agree to accept the cost of any damage willfully caused by your child and you agree to pick up your child immediately if his/her behaviour is deemed unacceptable. No refund will apply.
