Welcome
Welcome to Live N Learn where having fun in a safe and supervised environment is our number one priority. We are proud to offer out-of-school programmes that suit our Konini community.
Wellbeing, Health and Safety

To notify a supervisor as soon as possible if a child booked into the programme will not be attending for any reason.
To notify a supervisor immediately of any change in who will be collecting the child/ren, who have not been nominated on your enrolment form. If someone new comes to pick up your child and we haven't been notified we will not release the child until we have spoken with you for verification.
We aim to provide a healthy environment for all children in our programmes. At all times we will comply with all relevant health and safety legislation.
Where applicable, if a child has a medical condition parents must provide the programme with a Medical or Health Management Plan (Protocols sheet). Please email this to rene@livenlearn.co.nz.
If urgent medical attention if required at any time parents/guardians will be notified immediately. It will be at the supervisors discretion along with the seriousness of the situation to either take the child to an emergency medical centre or call an ambulance. Any cost will be reimbursed to the centre by the parents/guardians.
While every care is taken to ensure the safety of your children at all times, we understand there may be risks associated with the children attending the Live N Learn Programme. To help minimise these risks, the programme has safety procedures as well as rules and boundaries which all children must comply with.

The parent/caregiver assigned to picking up the child(ren) must use the onsite sign in sheet to sign the child(ren) out at the time of pick-up and drop off. This is for both the safety of the children and to ensure correct invoicing for the services.

Forms and further information are available onsite, please contact manager.
Granting of an OSCAR subsidy is between the parent and Work and Income New Zealand. Live N Learn cannot guarantee that any parent will be approved for this, however, we will assist with the application as required.
Damage to Property
Live N Learn staff will take due care and responsibility regarding the structural and non-structural property and its use. Parents/caregivers may be liable for replacement costs of equipment or property damaged by their child(ren).
Behaviour Management
Live N Learn behavior management procedures are in line with the out-of-school-care industry-approved policies and are similar to the policy of primary school.
Our policy is to ensure our environment is a safe and happy place for everyone involved. We maintain an emphasis on being polite, considerate and cooperative. Our rules and codes of conduct, which we expect the children to follow, are regularly explained to the children.
If we experience behavioral problems with a child, we follow a process whereby if unacceptable behavior is unchanged or escalates to become a risk to the child, other children, staff, or is damaging property, or is constantly interrupt the running of the programme, the parent will be contacted and consulted. In the first instance, a report of the child/rens behavior will be collated. These reports must be signed by the parent/caregiver after each behavioral incident.
If a parent has any questions or issues with how a childs behavior is being managed, please contact the Manager directly.
Do not discuss these matters with staff members while the programme is in progress.
Please note: We reserve the right to refuse or terminate a child's enrolment if there are unresolved behaviour issues.
Students with Special Educational Needs
Students identified by school, or an outside agency, as having Special Education Needs that require Teacher Aide/Learning Assistant support due to behavioural or safety reasons, need to receive permission from our Team Leader to attend Live N Learn. If at any time after enrolment, the supervisors determine that the child's needs cannot be adequately met without one-to-one supervision, the cost of this will need to be covered by the parent/caregiver. If this is not possible, the child concerned will not be able to use the service. Full information about the child’s requirements, including medication, diet and supervision, must be obtained from the parents and included with the child’s enrolment form. It is the Team Leaders’ responsibility to ensure that all staff are fully aware of the child’s requirements and that they feel confident to provide the necessary care. All children’s needs will be assessed in a non-discriminatory way by the Team Leader. If any concerns are identified regarding individual needs, a meeting with parents will be arranged by the Team Leader and any appropriate support measures will be put into place. All incidents regarding safety issues and unacceptable social behaviour of all children must be documented in an Incident Report. Any final decision on any child continuing in the programme rests with the Team Leader/Supervisor, and every effort will be made to include the child within the parameters of the resources and safety procedures of the programme.

Children are required to wear brimmed sunhats that protect the face, neck and ears when they are outside between term 1 and term 4 for sun protection.

Homework
We have approximately 20-30 minutes per day for homework help and reading assistance.

We are only able to help the children if we know what their homework is. We are not held responsible for the completion of homework, checking bags, etc., where a child insists, they do not have homework.
If there are any issues regarding homework, please contact the supervisor outside of programme hours.
If a child needs special assistance with homework, please ensure the supervisor is aware of this.
Complaint Procedure
Should the need arise to register a complaint with us, please notify the programme manager (Rene de Boed 022 175 8576) that there is something you wish to discuss with them or bring to their attention. This can be done verbally or in writing. A form for this purpose is available onsite at the programme. The programme manager will follow up as soon as the matter is brought to their attention outside of the programme hours.
