We are Launching a new St John's Senior School Flying Club Class in September 2026

This is a really fabulous co-curricular offering that we are running in collaboration with British Young Pilots (BYP).

Students who join the flying club will have a weekly class with a BYP flying instructor where they learn practical flying skills in classroom/desk top simulator as well as theoretical knowledge covering everything from physics & meteorology to navigation & engineering. Each term, students will have the opportunity to fly a real aircraft and put their skills to the test.

As well as being a fun, adventurous and exciting activity, flying can have a very positive impact on confidence and self-esteem and fosters real world interest in STEM.

Students can sign up and do just a single term but those who choose to stay with the club can progress through the BYP syllabus Levels and pass civilian flying test and exams as they go - for a committed student, it’s possible to leave school with a Private Pilot's Licence.

This booking is for school-based, weekly lessons.

Physical flying sessions are optional and booked separately with Great British Flying Club

Important Information

We will be launching a new St John's Senior School Flying Club class in September 2026.

PLEASE NOTE: This club is only for children who currently attend St John's.

BOOKING INFO:
To secure a place please click the button, you will then be guided through the steps to register your details, complete the Safety Form and make payment to confirm a place.

Once you begin the booking process, a place will be reserved for your student for 90 mins.
If you are unable to complete the booking in 90 mins, the place will be released and the booking cancelled.
Places are limited to 12 per class.

Once all places have been taken, you can still book onto the waiting list. Where possible, BYP will try to add further classes if numbers and instructor availability permit. If further classes are not possible this term, you will have priority booking for the next available WINGS classes.

Please check all session dates carefully before booking to ensure your child can attend. Learning notes can be provided for any sessions missed.

Please note that school flying clubs are subject to minimum student numbers. British Young Pilots may need to merge groups or, whilst unlikely, cancel a class if required due to low student numbers. In some cases, these decisions may need to be made at short notice. We will always do our very best to give parents as much notice as possible and, where appropriate, offer alternative sessions or a full refund.
