British Young Pilots offers a unique opportunity for young people who are passionate about aviation to learn, fly, make friends and become part of a community of young pilots.
Our weekend clubs combine aviation theory, practical simulator training and real-world flying, giving students the chance to develop their knowledge and skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Learn to Fly — Before You Fly
Each session combines classroom-based learning with practical flying skills using our flight simulators.
Students learn about topics such as:
• Aircraft and how they work
• The principles of flight and aviation physics
• Weather and meteorology
• Navigation and airspace
• Aviation safety and procedures
• How to operate and fly an aircraft
They then put what they've learned into practice on the simulator, with guidance from our experienced instructors.
This means students can learn, practise and make mistakes in the simulator first, before applying those skills in a real aircraft.
🛩️ Take to the Skies
One of the most exciting parts of being a British Young Pilot is the opportunity to fly a real aircraft.
Students can book real flying experiences alongside their club sessions, allowing them to put their knowledge and simulator skills into practice in the air.
Flying is not compulsory every week — students can progress at their own pace. We recommend that students aim for at least three real-aircraft flights per year to complement their simulator training.
Real-aircraft flights are an additional cost of £99 per 30-minute flight.
🎓 A Pathway Beyond the Club
Students can join us for a single term, or stay with British Young Pilots and continue progressing through our structured syllabus.
As they progress, students develop knowledge and skills that can take them well beyond simply learning to fly for fun. Our programme is designed to support young people who want to pursue aviation seriously, with opportunities to work towards civilian flying examinations and qualifications as they progress.
For a motivated and committed student, the long-term pathway can lead towards solo flying and eventually gaining a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) at 17.
🌟 More Than Learning to Fly
British Young Pilots is about much more than aircraft.
Our clubs give young people the opportunity to:
• Build confidence and independence
• Develop practical and academic skills
• Meet other young people who share their passion for aviation
• Learn from experienced pilots and instructors
• Challenge themselves and celebrate their progress
• Become part of a supportive community of young aviators
Whether your child dreams of becoming an airline pilot, wants to learn to fly for fun, or simply loves everything about aviation, British Young Pilots is a place to start that journey.
Come and join the next generation of young pilots. ✈️
