Get ready for an unforgettable week of RAF history, military aviation, engineering, and mission planning at the RAF Museum London (Hendon). This exciting 5-day holiday club is designed for students fascinated by military aircraft, aviation history, and the science behind how aircraft are designed, flown, and operated.
Based at one of the UK’s most iconic aviation museums, students will be surrounded by legendary RAF aircraft while stepping into the shoes of fighter pilots, mission planners, test pilots, engineers, and air traffic controllers through hands-on activities, simulator flying, and immersive aviation challenges.
Throughout the week, students will explore the story of military aviation — from the Battle of Britain and RAF defence operations to fast jets, aircraft engineering, and modern aviation systems.
Throughout the week, students will take part in a range of exciting themed days, including:
Step back into one of the most important moments in aviation history and discover how RAF pilots defended Britain during the Battle of Britain. Students will explore iconic RAF aircraft and learn about fighter operations, interception, radar, teamwork, and air defence systems.
Discover how real military air missions are planned, coordinated, and carried out in operational environments. Students will explore historic RAF aircraft and their operational roles before planning their own military mission, considering routes, timings, fuel, navigation checkpoints, and mission objectives.
Learn what it takes to become a test pilot and discover how aircraft designs evolved across different eras of RAF aviation. Students will carry out structured simulator-based flight test exercises and complete their own test pilot performance report.
⚙️ AIRFIX & AVIATION ENGINEERING DAY
Explore the engineering principles behind aircraft design and discover how aviation technology evolved throughout RAF history. Students will compare aircraft structures, wing designs, engines, landing gear, and cockpit layouts before taking part in Airfix model-building, engineering challenges, and STEM design activities.
Step into the world of air traffic control and discover how controllers safely manage aircraft movements. Students will learn aviation terminology and the phonetic alphabet while exploring the differences between civilian and military ATC through exciting communication and simulator-based exercises.
