About Dance & Arts Therapy NZ
Dance & Arts Therapy NZ (DTNZ) is a charity committed to the wellbeing and development of communities in Aotearoa.
Our team of professional dance movement and creative arts therapists offer group and individual therapy services that embody the transformative power of dance and art therapy. We inspire personal growth, healing and positive change for children, youth/rangatahi and tāngata whaikaha (people with disabilities) as well as people of all ages experiencing mental distress or healing from the impact of trauma. DTNZ supports over 3,000 individuals annually, delivering 6,000 therapy sessions/year to clients.

Terms and Conditions
1. Enrolment & Attendance
- Groups are limited to 30 participants. Spaces are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis once booking and payment are received.
- All participants (or their caregivers/whānau) must complete an enrolment form before attending their first session.
- Session donations may be paid at the time of booking or the end of the month/term. This is a recommended donation only. Please only donate what you can and if you can.
- If you are unable to attend, cancellations must be made directly with DTNZ. Transfers or credits are at DTNZ’s discretion.
- Participants who require personal care, supervision, or medical support must be accompanied by a caregiver/whānau member.
- Dance therapists and facilitators cannot provide personal care, toileting, or medical assistance.
- Please advise facilitators of any relevant health conditions, allergies, or support needs prior to attending.
- If a participant is unwell (e.g., fever, vomiting, flu-like symptoms), they should not attend the group.
- In case of emergency, staff may call emergency services and notify the listed emergency contact.
- Respectful behaviour is expected from all participants, caregivers, and whānau.
- DTNZ reserves the right to ask a participant to leave a session if behaviour is unsafe for themselves or others.
- Participation is voluntary - individuals may choose their level of engagement in activities.
- DTNZ may take photos or videos for reporting, training, and promotional purposes.
- Consent for photography/media use will be sought on the enrolment form. Participants/caregivers may opt out at any time.
- All personal information will be kept confidential in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
- Group discussions and personal sharing during sessions will remain private, unless safety concerns require otherwise.
- DTNZ may cancel or reschedule sessions due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness, venue issues). Updates will be communicated as soon as possible.
- DTNZ will do their best to add an additional session within the same term if a session is cancelled.
- If this is not possible, DTNZ will either transfer your payment to the following term or provide a refund.
By signing the enrolment form, participants (or their caregivers/whānau) agree to these terms and conditions and acknowledge that they participate at their own risk, with appropriate support as needed.
