TimberNook offers the ultimate sensory experience — challenging the mind, body, and the senses through meaningful play opportunities.
TimberNook Wellington awaits in a bush-clad valley only 25 minutes from the center of Wellington and on the doorstep of the Hutt Valley, at the Stratton Street entrance of Belmont Regional Park. Surrounded by hill country and farmland the children enjoy a peaceful sanctuary amongst trees and native bird song. A meandering stream, the beautiful Boardwalk falls, giant boulders and open grassy spaces will ignite your child’s imagination. Our uniquely New Zealand woolshed classroom (warm & sheltered) serves as the gateway to a memorable outdoor experience.
Kelly is a PhD qualified psychologist and the Director for the TimberNook Wellington site. She and her husband grew up in rural New Zealand and strongly believe that reasonable risk-taking and playing freely outdoors is beneficial for both physical health and mental wellbeing, particularly the development of self-confidence and resilience in children. Kelly feels passionate about bringing the TimberNook experience to children in urban New Zealand. She is a mother of two active girls, aged 7 and 9 years, and wants her children to grow up as she did "playing freely outdoors without a care in the world."
Our classroom is the great outdoors. Happy resilient children grow playing the TimberNook way!Transformative
