Sewing Classes in Devonport

When: Tuesday 3.30-4.30pm

Note: This class is also held at:

Experienced Students

In Term 2, students will level up their sewing skills by creating a stylish duffle bag and a fun ruffle-sleeved jumper they’ll be proud to wear and use every day!

Beginner Students 

We will go through all the basics of learning to sew! Making lots of awesome projects as we go such as - scrunchies, tote bags, soft toys, skirts and more.

We have a great student/tutor ratio. This means each student gets a lot of focussed attention. All materials and machines will be provided.

Devonport Community House

32 Clarence Street, Devonport, Auckland

Classes are held in the Rimu Room. Head in the main front doors, to the left and up the stairs

Term 2 starts from the week of the 27th of April and classes run for eight weeks.

What you need

All materials and machines will be provided.

Students also need to wear covered shoes and be able to tie long hair back for sewing machine safety.

• Pay in full by invoice due date (credit/debit card or internet banking)

• Pay in instalments - credit/debit card payments are spread automatically over 8 weeks after booking.

A service fee (1.85%) is added to credit/debit card payments

There is a carpark next to the community house that you are welcome to use. As well as lots of 2-hour street parking available across the road.

We’re located upstairs at the Devonport Community House. Go in the main entrance, head up the stairs to the left and you’ll find us in the Rimu Room.

Terms and Conditions

Please read these carefully.

Bookings All bookings need to be made online through Enrolmy.

You will receive an automated confirmation email and an invoice once booking is made, if you do not receive these, you have not booked.

We need to meet our class minimums to be able to run a class. If we do not meet the required numbers and need to cancel a class we may do so at any time and offer you a full refund or a credit.

Payments

Payments need to be made by the due date specified on the invoice.

Please note that we reserve the right to cancel your booking if this invoice is not paid by the due date.

Classes

Adults Classes:

It is each students responsibility to come to the classes they have booked in for.

If a place in a class is booked it is the students responsibility to attend the classes. We are unable to provide a refund or credit or transfer for missed classes. All purchases are final.

Our class sizes are limited, and by booking into a class we: held the spot for you, purchased and prepared materials and paid the tutor for your spot and the time they spent preparing for the class.

If you are able to let us know prior to the term starting that you will be missing a lesson, occasionally a catch up session can be arranged, but only if we have availability and at the desecration of Thread Room.

We cannot guarantee that you will complete your project during the term, but we will give guidance to help you select a project that is suitable for your skill level to be completed in our class timeframe. If you do not attend all classes, you may not complete project.

For individual projects students are expected to bring in their own fabric for the project or purchase one of our basic materials. We will give guidance on this before it is needed.

Kids and Teenagers Classes:

If your child will be missing a term class you must let us know.

We will try to provide a catch up session, because we work through set projects it is highly recommended they attend so they do not fall behind in the class. If they miss more than two classes, a catch up class fee will be charged for catch up sessions. If students do not attend all of the classes, they may not finish the term projects.

We cannot provide materials and instructions for the projects to be completed independently at home.

We may alter class projects if we feel students need more time. We want everyone to learn to sew in a fun, stress free environment.

School Holiday Workshops: If a student cannot make a holiday workshop and does not provide notice or at least two weeks unfortunately, we cannot refund or credit.

If you are able to give us at least two weeks notice, a credit or exchange can be provided.

Students If a student is being overly disruptive to the class or their actions are putting themselves or others at risk of injury we reserve the right remove them from the class and the remaining classes will be refunded. Assumption of Risk: The student acknowledges and agrees that they are voluntarily participating in the sewing class and assume all risks associated with the activity.The student acknowledges that there are inherent risks associated with sewing and using sewing equipment, including the risk of cuts, burns, or other injuries. The student assumes all risks associated with these activities.
