Point Chevalier School Holiday Sewing Workshops

Class details

School holidays are the perfect time to get creative, learn new skills and spend the day making something awesome!

Our Thread Room Sewing Workshops are fun, hands-on days where kids work in small groups, learn practical sewing skills and create projects they’ll be excited to take home. Whether they're already sewing or trying it for the first time, our friendly tutors will guide them through each project.

All materials and sewing machines are provided.

Monday 18 January - Sew Beach Shorts & Top Pt. 1

Tuesday 19 January - Sew Beach Shorts & Top Pt. 2

Monday 25 January - Sew a Wrap Skirt

Tuesday 26 January - Sew a Pencil Case Roll

Workshops run from 9am–3pm.

You can just book individual workshops, or book as many workshop days as you'd like.

Please note: Sew Beach Shorts & Top is a two-day workshop. Both days must be booked to attend.

What students will make

Sew Beach Shorts & Top

Make your very own beach shorts and beach top, ready for summer! Across two days, students will learn all the sewing machine basics, how to cut fabric out using a pattern and how to put a garment together. There are lots of fun fabrics to choose from, so every outfit will be unique.

Sew a Wrap Skirt

Make your very own stylish wrap skirt! Students will learn all the sewing machine basics, how to cut fabric out using a pattern and how to put a project together. There are lots of fun fabrics to choose from, so every skirt will be unique.

Sew a Pencil Case Roll

Get ready for the new school year with a cute pencil case roll! Students will pick out their own fabric from our collection and learn great sewing skills along the way, like using patterns, working on the sewing machines and stitching techniques. They'll head back to school with a fantastic new pencil case.

What to bring

All materials and sewing machines are provided.

Students need:

Morning tea & lunch

A drink bottle

Covered shoes

Long hair tied back for sewing machine safety

Terms and Conditions

Please read these carefully.

Bookings All bookings need to be made online through Enrolmy.

You will receive an automated confirmation email and an invoice once booking is made, if you do not receive these, you have not booked.

We need to meet our class minimums to be able to run a class. If we do not meet the required numbers and need to cancel a class we may do so at any time and offer you a full refund or a credit.

Payments

Payments need to be made by the due date specified on the invoice.

Please note that we reserve the right to cancel your booking if this invoice is not paid by the due date.

Classes

Adults Classes:

It is each students responsibility to come to the classes they have booked in for.

If a place in a class is booked it is the students responsibility to attend the classes. We are unable to provide a refund or credit or transfer for missed classes. All purchases are final.

Our class sizes are limited, and by booking into a class we: held the spot for you, purchased and prepared materials and paid the tutor for your spot and the time they spent preparing for the class.

If you are able to let us know prior to the term starting that you will be missing a lesson, occasionally a catch up session can be arranged, but only if we have availability and at the desecration of Thread Room.

We cannot guarantee that you will complete your project during the term, but we will give guidance to help you select a project that is suitable for your skill level to be completed in our class timeframe. If you do not attend all classes, you may not complete project.

For individual projects students are expected to bring in their own fabric for the project or purchase one of our basic materials. We will give guidance on this before it is needed.

Kids and Teenagers Classes:

If your child will be missing a term class you must let us know.

We will try to provide a catch up session, because we work through set projects it is highly recommended they attend so they do not fall behind in the class. If they miss more than two classes, a catch up class fee will be charged for catch up sessions. If students do not attend all of the classes, they may not finish the term projects.

We cannot provide materials and instructions for the projects to be completed independently at home.

We may alter class projects if we feel students need more time. We want everyone to learn to sew in a fun, stress free environment.

School Holiday Workshops: If a student cannot make a holiday workshop and does not provide notice or at least two weeks unfortunately, we cannot refund or credit.

If you are able to give us at least two weeks notice, a credit or exchange can be provided.

Students If a student is being overly disruptive to the class or their actions are putting themselves or others at risk of injury we reserve the right remove them from the class and the remaining classes will be refunded. Assumption of Risk: The student acknowledges and agrees that they are voluntarily participating in the sewing class and assume all risks associated with the activity.The student acknowledges that there are inherent risks associated with sewing and using sewing equipment, including the risk of cuts, burns, or other injuries. The student assumes all risks associated with these activities.
