Mt Eden - Sewing Class for Teenagers
A fun and creative sewing class for teenagers who want to build their sewing skills, explore fashion and make things they genuinely want to wear and use.
Students work on sewing projects throughout the term, with guidance from our tutors to help them develop their skills, understand patterns and bring their ideas to life.
Whether they're just starting out or already confident with a sewing machine, students can work at their own level and develop their skills through projects they're excited about.
We'll provide projects to get you started and help you build your sewing skills.
You're encouraged to bring your own project or pattern to work on. If you don't bring a project, you can choose from the projects and patterns we have available in class.
Students will learn a range of sewing and pattern-making skills while working on their projects. Depending on what they're making, this might include:
- Understanding sewing patterns, including sizing and construction instructions
- Choosing suitable fabrics
- Garment construction
- Sewing techniques and finishes
- Making adjustments and personalising designs
- Building confidence using a sewing machine
Students are encouraged to be creative and make their projects their own, with tutors available to help with tricky techniques, problem-solving and adapting patterns.
Wednesdays 4.30–6.00pm
Term 4 starts from the week of 19 October and classes run for eight weeks.
Teen sewing classes are also available at our Devonport and Silverdale locations.
Machine use, basic materials and access to patterns are included.
Students with some sewing experience should bring:
- Their own sewing project or pattern
- Fabric and any other materials needed for their project
Beginners don't need to bring a project to their first class. We'll have projects ready for them to get started on.
If you're unsure what project would be suitable, we're always happy to help.

The classroom is downstairs and is easiest accessed from the carpark. We would recommend driving or walking into the church car park from Alderley Road, and we will be waiting for you by the classroom door.
