Why should I take this class?
On your first night, take home a textured copper ring, made with your very own hands! With guidance in a small, supportive environment, you'll master specialist silver-smithing techniques, including creating settings for cabochon stones. What is a cabochon you may ask? Well, a cabochon (pronounced cab-uh-shon), is a domed stone that has been shaped and polished, rather than faceted.
Additional materials can be purchased during class, offering a personalised learning experience, tailored to your preferred metal and budget. Costs can range between $30 - $100 depending on your preferred metal.
Students will take home at least 2 rings; one with a cabochon set onto it. If time permits, students may get the chance to create another similar piece of jewellery (i.e. pendant, ring or earrings).
- Gain a greater appreciation of the time and effort required to create stunning jewellery
- Develop a deeper understanding of silversmithing tools and techniques
- Craft two rings; one of which will be set with a cabochon stone
- Experience camaraderie and pride in knowing you have created beautiful jewellery
