Why should I take this class?
Anyone can learn to draw and paint. Be part of a fun and supportive environment (often filled with music) where you can learn to draw and paint or work on your own 2D projects with the help of a tutor.
A series of works in a variety of media including, but not limited to, charcoal, graphite, soft pastels and acrylics. You will also leave with an understanding of observational artistry techniques.
Week 1:
We will begin with outlining the fundamentals of observational drawing and painting. The media used will be graphite and charcoal.
Week 2:
We will begin tonal still life drawings using the skills learned in week 1.
Week 3:
More detailed reference images will be used which include foreshortening.
Week 4:
We introduce colour with soft pastels.
Week 5:
Everything that the students have learned will now be applied to acrylic paint.
Weeks 6 and 7:
Students can select which medium/project they would like to work on during these two weeks, including using their own references if they prefer.
- A deeper understanding of observational drawing and painting techniques
- An introduction to colour
- The option of structured learning or a more independent learning style
- Support and advice from an experienced tutor on how to break down a reference image for drawing and painting
