Dates: Monday 25th - Friday 29th September and Monday 2nd - Friday 6th October 2023

Times: 9.00am - 3.00pm

Cost: $65.00 per day

WEEK 1

Monday 25 September - Comic Creators and Storytellers day (National day 25th Sep)

Come journey to lands and seas near and far beyond, where we will share stories of silly sorcery and trickster tales! Today, let your imagination run silly, create your own unique characters and learn how to turn them into comic art! We will be sharing some of our most favourite stories, characters and creatures to help get us popping with inspiration.

Tuesday 26 September - Automata/Cam Creations

Get your art engines ready! Using cardboard, wood and a splash of paint we are going to be building and creating a STEAM inspired Automaton - which is a fancy word for a hand-powered toy that creates cyclical motion and makes your character or object move.

Wednesday 27 September - Make a Wind Chime

Have you heard the wind sing to you? Maybe the wind needs a band? Using all sorts of upcycled and recycled treasures that ting and clang we will create a chiming musical masterpiece!

Thursday 28 September - Make Your Own Mask

For a very long time, people from all over the world have been making masks for special celebrations such as Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Masks may be made to protect and cover the face or, as used by dancers and actors performing a show, to represent other characters.

Let's face the creative funfare and get masking!

Friday 29 September - Pop Up Playgrounds

Have you ever seen a building or a character jump out of your book?

What about a whole playground!? Today we are going to explore what Pop up story books are and how we can use their disappearing magic to invent and design our Pop up playground!

WEEK 2

Monday 2 October -
Dens and Forest Folk Houses

We are going for an adventure into the Enchanted Forest of Taita, where many mischievous mystical folk love to play and hide!

Grab your gumboots and raincoats for an adventurous day creating and building a cosy cabin, dragon den, or fairy house.

Tuesday 3 October - Pinhole Camera

Many, many years ago, before we had electricity, phones or computers, people discovered a phenomenon called obscura and used it to create photos from the world around them.

Using cardboard, metal and light we will learn how to build our own pinhole camera and create our own pinhole photography.

Wednesday 4 October - Magick Houses

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of wizards and witches! Using forest treasures, recycled containers and plaster of paris we are going to stick, mould and create homes for our favourite spelly sorcerers.

Thursday 5 October - Plaster Art Master

Today we are going to roll, brush, scratch and scrape our way into clay moulds to create our own plaster relief artwork.

Relief means to raise and relief sculpture is to create a 3D artwork from a flat background. We’ll be playing with different tools to create different textures and feelings. Once the plaster sets, we'll peel them out of their moulds and brighten them up with some paint!

Friday 6 October - Duct Tape Mad Hatter

Did you know you can make a hat entirely out of duct tape!? Today we are going to channel our creative mad hatter inside of us to turn our duct tape hat into a wearable head of wonders!

Please note:
All classes need a minimum number to go ahead. If a class is cancelled we will let you know 2 working days prior to the scheduled start date. If a class is cancelled, you may transfer to another available class or you'll receive a full refund.
