Learn practical skills that cultivate a sense of play and resilience and prepare you for a career as an actor. Explore voice work, building imagination, character development and audition technique…

Actor's need a specific skill-set, a sense of play and a ton of resilience!

This programme, led by experienced screen actor and voice-over artist Tania Anderson, will focus on a number of important areas - from improving your natural voice to sparking your imagination and helping you to connect with your fellow actors onstage.

Practical and engaging, the 10-week Actor’s Toolbox programme will also explore different ways of approaching a script and fleshing out characters. You will also discover what to expect when auditioning and how best to prepare yourself so that you feel confident and empowered once you step into a rehearsal room, onto a set, or behind a microphone.

Tania has over 30 years’ experience in the entertainment industry and has worked on "both sides"; as an actor, voice-over artist, singer, producer, marketing manager and tour manager. Her TV and Film credits include: Filthy Rich, The Almighty Johnsons, This Is Not My Life, Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune, Bloodlines, Be Very Afraid, Kidnapped, Mahana, Heaven, Hercules, Xena, Being Eve, Street Legal and Letter for The King. She has been the voice of Air NZ, Noel Leeming, Smiths City, Metlifecare and has voiced over 1,000 radio and television commercials. Tania studied voice, modern dance and acting in London before returning to NZ to complete a BA (Eng) and Diploma in Drama at Auckland University. In recent years she has combined motherhood, acting and voiceover work with teaching English as a Second Language, performing as part of the Jubilation Choir and acting and touring with Mind Over Manner. She has taught Drama and Voice to teenagers and is looking forward to working with older actors who are keen to have some fun and hone their skills.
