Celebrate Matariki through the power of waiata! Join vocal powerhouses Ariana Williams (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and Ebony Andrew (Ngāti Maniapoto) for a special workshop celebrating the Māori New Year through song and connection.

Tutor Ebony speaks of the purpose of the workshop, saying "We will learn some popular Māori waiata that will help you learn some of the foundations of kaupapa Māori; help you decolonise yourself; and will make you feel more confident in a kaupapa Māori situation . All while having a lot of fun singing some beautiful reo Māori classics. Anyone and everyone is welcome!"

This Matariki Waiata Workshop aims to celebrate the Māori New Year by continuing the legacy of waiata. It will inspire, excite and provide more access to the language and culture to everyone and anyone. It will celebrate and encourage the revitalisation of te reo Māori. Plus, who doesn't love a good sing?

All are welcome to join our safe space to learn and explore waiata.
