Run by TAPAC - The Auckland Performing Arts Centre

Learn the techniques used by professional circus performers including acrobatics, tumbling, juggling and diabolo! Students will be guided by industry experts in a safe, creative and fun environment.

Circus Arts is a fun, creative, challenging but very rewarding physical course led by industry professionals Circability.

Students will learn the techniques used by professional circus performers as they roll on the ground and fly through the air! Physical warm-ups, acrobatics, tumbling and object manipulation enable students to develop their motor skills, strength, flexibility and endurance.

Guided every step of the way in a safe, creative and fun environment, students will have the opportunity to show off their circus training to family and friends at the end of the course.

Tutors are from Circability - a community circus designed for all! Experienced circus professionals encourage participants to reach their full potential and Circability's aim is to build bridges and break down barriers, using circus as a medium to bring people together.

Teaching Artists: Circability
Circability teaches circus to all ages and abilities with the aim to celebrate difference. All classes are tailored for the participant skill level, and are fun and accessible. The Circability Trust was formed in July 2012 and is a partnership between Circability Directors Frances Kelliher and Thomas Hinz. In 2013 Thomas managed Circus Fantasia in Rostock, Germany, which he set up in 1991. Thomas studied Rehabilitative Pedagogy in Berlin in the late 80‘s. He set up 'Circus Fantasia’, with its 26 metre tent in the city of Rostock in 1995. Frances Kelliher (B.Com Marketing) has a career spanning research, publishing and the arts. She has managed community radio, galleries, a dive shop and performed as an amateur acrobat, juggler and clown on both sides of the globe.
