About Te Ohaka o Ngāti Hine OSCAR program
Te Ohaka o Ngāti Hine OSCAR under the umbrella of the Ngāti Hine Health Trust and Education arm operates After School and Holiday care programs for 5-13year old tamariki. Our focus is to support the growth and development of our tamariki to learn in an inclusive kaupapa Māori environment that encourages tikanga principles; whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, tuakana-teina, kotahitanga, tika, pono, aroha and kaitiakitanga. These principles are important in building a nurturing environment for all tamariki to learn, interact and thrive.
Kaiāwhina will show passion and professionalism in their work, strive to provide endless learning opportunities that value the potential of all tamariki while responding to whanau aspirations.
Te Ohaka o Ngāti Hine is a program where “Te Tu o Ngāti Hine” is embedded into the everyday experiences of our tamariki knowing “who they are, where they come from and how they connect to the Iwi of Ngāti Hine and beyond”. Te Reo me ona Tikanga (Language and Protocol) will be interwoven into all aspects of our program.

As an OSCAR parent; I will ensure that my fees for my child/ren are paid weekly and in full-I acknowledge that if I am eligible for a WINZ subsidy, this is my responsibility if WINZ do not pay my childs subsidy, it is my responsibility to keep my child/ren fees paid up to date and in full. WINZ subsidies must be applied for a minimum of two weeks before the childs start date. Please note: If your child does not attend for i.e 2 x days out of x 5 days that you have booked and you are on a WINZ subsidy your account will not go into credit you will be charged what we receive from WINZ. I agree to pay the current specified fees, and debt collectors fee (if applicable) and to give two weeks notice of with drawl. Hardship is available should families meet unexpected costs that may impact the quality of living subject to conditions. See Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine OSCAR policy Booklet.
Payment for repair and or replacement of any damage willfully caused by a child will be the responsibility of the parent/caregiver.
The management of Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine Oscar Program (The Ngati Hine Health Trust) undertakes to collect, use and store the information you provide on your enrolment form according to the principles of The Privacy Act 1993. The information will be used to prepare rolls and records required by the Ministry of Social Development for administrative purposes. Confidentiality will be maintained.
Please feel free to inform yourself of our policies and procedures our Policy Booklet will be available to access on the sign in desk for you to view at your leisure. We also have a behavior procedure in place. Please read this so you are aware of what is expected of you and your child when in our care.
As a parent/caregiver, it is your responsibility to inform Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine Oscar Program (The Ngati Hine Health Trust) if your child/ren are not attending the program (if after school program before 2pm the day and if holiday program before 8am on the day). Note: You will be charged regardless of attendance unless you make changes by 5pm the day prior directly on the Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine ENROLMY website. If you do not inform Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine Oscar Program (The Ngati Hine Health Trust), of your childs absence, Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine Oscar reserves the right to charge your account for your childs non attendance. Fees will be required should your child not attend a session that you have booked in for unless ample notice (1-2 weeks) in advance is given to the OSCAR Coordinator so that places can be filled with other children to ensure the program is sustainable and can continue to operate. Contact is best received through the OSCAR email and or OSCAR mobile. Late Fees will also be charged should you drop off your child early before 8:15am for Holiday Programs or pick up late after 5pm or for Afterschool care after 5pm at the rate of $1.00 per minuet before or after to pay for x2 staff to remain on site to watch your child/ren as we have a staffing ratio that ensures safety in numbers.
Pricing - Te Ohaka o Ngati Hine OSCAR program reserves the right to update fees when required. Customers will be notified with a minimum of 2 weeks notice. The current pricing plans are in place as of January 1st 2025: Afterschool Care $15.00 non-WINZ or $17.00 for WINZ clients per child per day from 3pm - 5pm and Holiday Programme $45.00 per child per day whom do NOT receive WINZ subsidy and $60.00 per child per day for children whom receive WINZ subsidy. These fees are to ensure the sustainability of the programme. WINZ eligibility has increased to include more low - middle income families. Families who wish to apply for WINZ subsidies MUST ensure to submit their paperwork directly to Work and Income following getting the OSCAR Coordinator to complete our part on behalf of the program.
