Please Note If your child would like to take part in Tough Kids, they are very welcome to do so, but participation will need to be organised individually by parents and whānau. You will be responsible for providing transport to and from the venue, supervision throughout the event and returning your child to school once it has finished.

The Mitre 10 MEGA Tough Kid® is a fun and challenging obstacle course designed for primary & intermediate school children.

The course includes lots of running with obstacles the kids need to navigate such as cargo nets, cable reels, climbing wall, bank climb & slide as well as lots of other challenging and fun tasks.

Age Groups & Race Categories

This event is split into the following race categories:

- Year 3 & 4 Boys - Year 3 & 4 Girls

- Year 5 & 6 Boys - Year 5 & 6 Girls

Race Clothing

We are asking that children wear their St Johns Hill School sports polo and shorts.

Shoes are recommended and bare feet will be at the risk of the individual (there is a risk of splinters, cuts etc.) Competitors will need to bring a spare change of clothes and a towel with them, as they will get wet from their race.

Behaviour Expectation

Students will be expected to sit with other students from the school and will stay in the designated except when they are competing.

Competitors will be at Cooks Garden from 9:45 until they have raced. After their race they are expected back at school.

Students are still representing St Johns Hill School, those who can’t manage themselves and behave in the manner expected will be asked to return to school.

Changing Areas & Toilets

All toilets and changing areas at Cooks Gardens will be open on the day.

Student/Parent/Coach/Manager/Code of Conduct

Parents understand that by enrolling their child, that their child will abide by these guidelines.

Remembering the purpose of after-school sports at St Johns Hill School is to develop teamwork and skills through participation, and to have fun.
They understand that the team coach/es and manager have volunteered their time and will be treated with respect, which means: listening to and following their directions, participating fully at all training sessions and games, acting sensibly and responsibly whilst at game venues, being thankful and showing appreciation for their time. This also includes not playing with sports balls or talking while the coach/manager requires your full attention.
Being a positive role model for your team and encouraging sportsmanship and fair play, by showing respect and courtesy, demonstrating positive support for all players, parents and officials.
Play by the rules and accept the decisions of game officials (referees/umpires, etc).
Being a good sportsperson and positively acknowledging the opposing team.
Assisting my parent/caregiver to ensure that I attend all training sessions and games well prepared with the correct uniform, water bottle and warm clothes, understanding that I have committed to completing the sports season, being thankful and showing appreciation for their time.

Failure to abide by the above guidelines could result in your child being stood down from a team for a period of time or being removed from school teams altogether.

Parents are required to read and understand this form to verify their acceptance of the Code of Conduct before their child participating in any after-school sporting competition

We understand it is our responsibility to make sure our child arrives and is picked up on time for games and training/practices.
We will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for them, not adults. To be an exemplary role model for your child.
We will support and respect coaches, managers and officials working with our child to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all. We will understand that our team coach and manager are volunteering their time and flexibility may be needed with training times over the season.
We will inform the coach of any physical injury or medical condition, e.g. asthma, which may affect the safety of our child or the safety of others.
We will ensure that once our child is selected for a team he/she will complete the season.
We will follow the school's procedure of going through the School Sports Coordinator as the first contact point, should any issue arise with an official, a parent, and/or the opposing team. It is the school sports coordinator's responsibility to contact the competition event organiser.
We will respect the policies and decisions made by the coach or school and will take time to speak with the coach or school at a mutually agreed upon time to discuss any issues.
We will refrain from coaching our child or other players during games and practices.
We will be positive role models for our children and encourage sportsmanship and fair play, by showing respect and courtesy, demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, parents, families and opposition and accepting the decisions of game officials.
We understand that by registering my child, contact details (including mobile number and email address) will be passed on to my child's sports team Coach and Manager, as well as relevant outside sports agencies, e.g. Netball Whanganui, as appropriate.

Coaches/Managers are required to read and understand this form to verify their acceptance of the

Coaches are required to be exemplary role models and teach players fair play and sportsmanship ideals.
Do a brief introduction at the start of the season explaining your coaching style, and expectations of the children (in the team) and their parents, as well as consult with the team for an agreeable practice/training session.
Ensure that every child is given equal game time (except for disciplinary, prolonged absence or ailment reasons).
Refrain from talking to the Umpire/Official or parent on the sideline during the game in front of the children.
Respect the policies and decisions made by the school and take time to speak with the school at a mutually agreed upon time to discuss any issues that arise.
Ensure that no player is left at the courts/pool/turf or field by themselves after the game.
Support Officials working with your team to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
Be a positive role model for your team and encourage sportsmanship and fair play, by showing respect and courtesy, demonstrating positive support for all players, parents and officials and accepting the decisions of game officials.
