The Ranch Camp is our traditional horse camp for where campers spend 3 nights and 4 days at the ranch without any interruption from cell phones or internet!
Over the course of the 4 days the campers are designated a horse where they will learn the basics of riding or advance their riding skills through their daily group lesson. During other times campers participate in challenging, fun and adventurous outdoor activities the Ranch has to offer. Some of the activities may include Camp fires, Orienteering, Archery, cabin adventures and much more...
Each evening at camp we have a time of singing and a speaking session with a Christian message where we talk about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and various challenges young people have today. All campers are asked to participate as it is the foundation of what has created the Ranch.
These camps are suitable for all levels of riders from beginners to advanced.
The camp will conclude with a display of each riding group at the main arena to show off your new skills to your family and friends who come and watch.
Campers may request to bring their own horse, this is subject to SSR approval - please email office@sonshineranch.co.nz

Display for parents: 2.15pm - Thursday 3rd July

Due to the increased number of complex dietary requirements and stringent health and safety regulations, the Sonshine Ranch management and volunteer kitchen crew require that if your child meets the following criteria eg Gluten free, coeliac, dairy free or vegan, we kindly ask you to provide 3 prepared evening meals that can be easily heated. Sonshine Ranch will cater for all other meals for your child. This requirement excludes vegetarian diets. There is no deduction of camp fee, as SSR will cover the extra costs of the other meals.

- Riding boots or boots with a small heel (Gumboots with a small heel are suitable)
- Clothing for riding; tracksuit pants or jodhpurs, t-shirt. You will not be permitted to ride in singlets
- Sturdy footwear for when not riding
- Warm clothing, a set of very old clothes
- Plastic bag for dirty clothes
- Raincoat, sunhat
- Drink bottle
- Sleeping bag, pillow, sheet to cover mattress
- Toiletries incl. deodorant, sunscreen, insect repellent
- Shower towel
- Togs & towel (not needed in July)
- Torch
- Bible (if you have one), pen
Cellphones are not permitted. We prefer cellphones are left at home, however campers may hand them in to the office on arrival.
