Course Overview
Welcome to a studio space where curiosity and creativity replace pressure. This one day workshop is designed to be a judgment-free playground to energise your creative spirit. Whether you are picking up a pair of scissors for the first time or you are a seasoned professional looking to break out of a creative rut, you will find a supportive home here.
Mixed-media collage is the ultimate low-pressure creative outlet to explore, experiment, and express yourself. Because we work by gathering, rearranging, and reimagining existing papers and textures, there is no intimidating blank canvas to contend with. Together, we will discover how everyday materials can become meaningful art, embrace the joy of simple mark making techniques, and help you find your own unique visual storytelling voice.
You Will Explore
● Crafting Painted Papers: Create your own custom palette of colourful, beautifully imperfect papers to use as the foundational building blocks for your work.
● Composition and Visual Language: Explore balance, focal points, and scale in a relaxed, approachable way, letting colour, texture, and marks guide your story.
● Understanding Adhesives: Discover which glues, gels, and mediums work best for different weights of paper, fabric, and found treasures.
● Mixed-Media Fusion: Playfully integrate acrylics, inks, charcoal, thread, and pastels into your layers. Our focus is on process over perfection, allowing you to thoroughly enjoy the act of making.
● Personal Storytelling: Explore methods to weave story and personal narrative into your artwork.
By the time our day together draws to a close, you will have a beautiful collection of your own painted papers, a finished artwork, and the confidence to keep creating, trust yourself, and feel excited about where your creative journey takes you next.
