We will be creating showreels using original scenes to showcase your acting without using existing movie footage. These custom scenes will feature original Rātā Studio Scripts that allow actors to demonstrate their range. We will be Prioritizing Quality with Award-winning emerging cinematographer Ebed Pohl. Insuring sound and video quality are professional; poorly filmed scenes are worse than no scenes. The point of a showreel is to show how you act. To show how you handle the nuance of character and a story arc. It needs to be as cinematic as it needs to be to showcase your acting, and no more than that.

 

Showreel:

• You will perform two 1–2-minute scenes focusing on high emotional stakes. You will be performing with another actor to show how you relate to another person in the scene, a crucial part of acting. We want to see the interplay of characters facing a conflict together.

• Keeping the focus on the performance, not the background. We see great acting in the small moments, not the big. We want a showreel that has a good scene with a simple arc. We will use well-written scripts, with a believable yet powerful conflict in which your acting will capture the nuances of the material.

Saturday – Focus on acting workshop. Script analysis.

Sunday – Filming –

When not ‘on set’, you will be working on other scenes, building skills in observation, script analysis, and the technical aspects of filmmaking, and time for some improvisation games.
