Our course covers speaking, reading, writing, and culture, enabling you to communicate confidently in any simple situation. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the French language, enrich your vocabulary, and develop practical language proficiency to navigate the French-speaking world.

FRENCH BEGINNERS - A1.1 level. This course is designed for learners who are not complete beginners but still at an early stage of learning French. It is ideal for those who have completed French Beginners Group 1 and need a refresher, or those who have some basic knowledge and wish to continue building their skills. It is not suitable for absolute beginners with no prior experience.

Our French Course Pathway:

French - Beginners, Group 1 (A1.0 - A1.1): Perfect for full Beginners and those completed a beginners French. This course continues to offer a comprehensive introduction to the basics of the French language.

French - Beginners, Group 2 (A1.3): Designed for individuals with some basic knowledge or who have completed Group 1. This course helps build on your initial skills and gain confidence in communication.

French - Beginners, Group 3 (A1.4): Designed for individuals with basic knowledge or who have completed Group 2. This course helps further build on your skills and gain confidence in communication.

French - Post Beginners (A2): For those who have completed our Beginners course or already have a basic understanding of French. This course focuses on advancing your proficiency and expanding your foundational knowledge.

French - Intermediate (B1): Advancing in French conversational skills.

Our courses follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which categorizes language proficiency into three main levels: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each of these levels is divided into two sub-levels:

Beginners: A1 and A2

Intermediate: B1 and B2

Advanced: C1 and C2

At Parnell Community Centre, we currently offer French courses at the A1, A2, and B1 levels. Our French levels vary each term to student's cohort levels.

Feel free to repeat any level: You are welcome to revisit any level to reinforce and consolidate your learning before advancing to the next stage of your language journey.

Community Service Card and Gold Card holder's discount:

We are pleased to extend a special 10% discount to Community Service Card and Gold Card holders. When enrolling, simply select the applicable discount option, and during checkout, enter your membership number to validate and apply the discount.

Terms & Conditions

FEES/PAYMENTS

You must enrol and pay for your class before it begins. (Tutors cannot accept enrolments or payments.)
Our class and activity fees include GST.
A 10% discount applies for senior citizens (65+) and people with a Community Services Card.
No discounts for casual attendance activities or annual membership fees.
Please note, if you choose to pay by credit card, a credit card transaction fee will be added to your total.
Material costs are not included, unless otherwise stated.
Children enrolled in classes and activities under the age of 16 years old must have a parent or guardian onsite.

CONFIRMATION

Many classes and activities require a minimum number of enrolments before they can proceed.

We will contact you to confirm your enrolment and any requirements 3-5 days prior to commencement.

TRANSFERS

A $10 fee is charged for each transfer between courses, before the activity commences.

CREDITS

You will get a 100% credit on your account if we cancel the class or activity.
You will get a 100% credit on your account if you withdraw at least ONE WEEK before the activity start date.
You will not receive a credit if you withdraw after the class has started.

Credits are only carried forward for the next term.

REFUNDS

A $15 fee is charged for the refund of a credit note on your account.

CANCELLATIONS / DATE AND TIME CHANGES

Parnell Community Centre reserves the right to cancel any activity at any time and to change any course dates and times.

DOGS/ANIMALS

As an Auckland Council community venue, no animals are permitted on site, other than guide dogs for the visually impaired, registered companion animals or official animals of the NZ Police.

COURSE EVALUATION

We welcome and value your feedback. Participants will be invited to complete a survey emailed at the end of the term.

PHONE USE DURING CLASS

As a courtesy to your Tutor and fellow classmates, we ask that phones be kept on silent during your class/workshop or that phone calls be taken outside the room.

HEALTH & SAFETY

When attending a class/activity/workshop, you are responsible for ensuring you are familiar with Emergency Procedures which can be found in each room and bathroom in the building.
