You'll learn the fundamentals of image design, block carving, and hand-printing using eco-conscious materials like plywood, watercolour, and a simple handheld baren. Sybille Schlumbom is a full-time artist and experienced art tutor with a Master of Visual Arts (First Class Honours) from Auckland University of Technology and a background in painting and illustration from Bild Kunst Akademie Hamburg. Her postgraduate studies focused on printmaking, with particular expertise in Japanese woodblock printing (Mokuhanga), developed through residencies at the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory in Japan. As an immigrant artist, Sybille draws inspiration from the unfamiliar—new cultures, languages, and places—bringing this curiosity and cross-cultural sensitivity into her creative practice. With over 15 years’ experience teaching in galleries, museums, and community art spaces, she creates inclusive, hands-on learning environments that encourage experimentation and personal expression across a wide range of media. @sybille_schlumbom
