The mission of the Nelson Waldorf School is to:
PURPOSE
The purposes of the Nelson Area Waldorf School Association are to:
lifelong sense of purpose and self-worth in our students, empowering them to
positively impact their communities and the world.
• Provide an education that supports each child’s natural development through
scholastic excellence and a comprehensive and holistic program, awakening a
love for the natural world, developing concrete capacities and, on a deeper
level, supporting their social, emotional, and spiritual development.
• Enliven and enhance the social cultural life of our school and community.
• Build and maintain authentic relationships with the Nelson and greater
Kootenay community.
• Share human and material resources in a wider field of service through
affiliation with the regional and international Waldorf Education movement,
to further the work started by Rudolf Steiner.
• Enlarge public understanding and appreciation of the principles and
philosophy of education developed and expounded by Dr. Rudolf Steiner.
• Found/assist centers of learning based on said principles and Philosophy.
• Cooperate with other learning institutions regarding the above purposes,
particularly with other Waldorf Schools and with the local school Board of Trustees.
