At KCJ Education, we believe that children build confidence and independence when they have opportunities to practise, repeat and consolidate what they are learning.

 

KCJ Learning Boost is our small-group learning programme designed to provide children with additional practice in Literacy and Mathematics at their current year level.

 

Unlike our specialist tutoring programmes, Learning Boost is not an individualised intervention programme. Instead, it provides structured and engaging opportunities for children to reinforce the skills and concepts they are likely to be learning within their classroom environment throughout the year.

 

How does Learning Boost work?

 

Each 30-minute session is facilitated by one of our KCJ Learning Assistants and has a maximum of  four children per group.

 

Sessions are active, engaging and designed to make repetition enjoyable. Children will:

 

* Play purposeful learning games

* Practise and reinforce year-level skills

* Build fluency and automaticity through repetition

* Develop confidence using familiar concepts

* Take home a small amount of learning practice to complete during the week

 

Our goal is to create a positive environment where children can strengthen their foundations without adding unnecessary cognitive load.

 

Literacy Learning Boost

 

Our Literacy sessions provide regular practice and reinforcement of year-level literacy skills.

 

Depending on the age and stage of the group, this may include phonics and spelling patterns, reading fluency, vocabulary, sentence construction, handwriting and other literacy skills aligned with what children are expected to encounter at their year level.

 

The focus is on practice, repetition and consolidation — helping learning become increasingly secure and automatic.

Maths Learning Boost

 

Our Maths sessions follow the same philosophy, providing children with additional opportunities to practise mathematical concepts and skills appropriate to their current year level.

 

Through games, explicit practice and repetition, children can strengthen number knowledge, calculation strategies and other year-level mathematical concepts while developing greater confidence and fluency.

 

30 minutes | Once per week | $25 per child

Maximum 4 children per group

 

Combine Literacy + Maths

 

Families can enrol their child in either Literacy or Maths, or combine both for a discounted weekly rate.

 

Literacy only — $25 per week

Maths only — $25 per week

Literacy + Maths — $45 per week

 

 Part of the KCJ Learning Pathway

 

Learning Boost also provides another important layer within the KCJ philosophy: noticing when a child may need something more.

 

Our Learning Assistants can identify when a child appears to be having ongoing difficulty securing particular skills despite additional practice and repetition.

 

Where concerns are identified, families may be recommended for further assessment through our KCJ specialist tutoring service. These assessments are undertaken by qualified teachers and can help identify specific gaps in learning and determine whether a more individualised scope and sequence or targeted intervention would benefit the child.

 

Learning Boost does not replace specialist tutoring for children who require targeted intervention. Instead, it provides an accessible opportunity for children who simply need more practice, more repetition and more opportunities to make their classroom learning stick.
