Pottery Throwing on the Wheel with Di Toi

Ability Group: This class is suitable for Adult beginner & intermediate students.

Have some fun and a laugh or two on a potter’s wheel while learning foundation techniques or developing your current skills. Di will guide you using a step-by-step approach developing the basic techniques for making pottery on the wheel. The focus will be on creating cylinders and bowls - the key forms to learn when starting out. Later in the term you will be shown how to add spouts and handles to your forms to create small jugs and cups. We will touch on underglaze painting and some decorating effects and in the final class once your forms have been bisque fired you will learn how to dip glaze your work.

Materials:
Wear old clothing and bring an apron and a hand towel.
Students must have their own clay and basic clay tool kit.
Tool Kits can be purchased directly from Di Toi for $15.00.
Clay is available from CCG Industries, Albany or from Estuary Arts Centre on request.

Glazing and Firing costs are extra.
