Dear Parents,

 

Congratulations, your child has been selected to play junior Interclub for Whangaparaoa Tennis Club in term 4 2026 and term 1 2027.

 

Playing competitive tennis, such as the Junior Interclub competition, helps children develop a lifelong passion for our sport. Kids who play competitively are far more likely to stay involved in tennis over the long term.  Competing as part of a team builds camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose, boosting both motivation and enjoyment. It also gives meaning to attending lessons, as our coaching is designed to help your child become confident, capable, and happy competing on the court.Please have a read of the below details, before clicking on the link to sign your child up.

 

- Dates: Term 4 matches will be played between 16th October - December 6th.  And Term 1 matches are between February 12 and April 4.  There will be 7 weeks of matches in a row. 

 

- Days, start times and age eligibility:

 

9/10 year old grade matches start Sunday 830am (Player must have been born between 1/5/2016 and 30/04/2018)

 

11/12 year old grade matches start Saturday's 830am or 10am (Player must have been born between 01/05/2014 and 30/04/2016)

 

13-15 year old grade is played on Saturday either 10:30am or 1pm (Player must have been born between 01/05/2011 and 30/04/2014)

 

16-18 year old grade is played on Fridays 5pm (Player must have been born between 01/05/2008 and 30/04/2011)

 

- Venue for matches: Please note that joining a team will require your child to travel to matches outside of Whangaparaoa.  Roughly half the matches will be played at our club and the other half at other clubs on the North Shore or Albany / Forrest Hill Tennis center.  There is a chance that your child may need to travel as far away to Devonport, Waimauku, Helensville Tennis Clubs at the furthest.  For these matches Tennis Northern will try their best to schedule them at Albany Tennis Park or Forrest Hill, however there might be the odd occasion when they are not able to accommodate this.  The parent manager of each team could look at organising car pools for matches outside of Whangaparaoa.

 

- Cost: No charge if your child signs up to one Interclub training session a week in term 4 and term 1. 

 

When signing up could you please detail any dates your child will be unable to play any of the matches. Please only sign your child up if they are available to attend at least 4 of the 7 matches.

 

- Registrations close: September 13th

 

- Please note Interclub will not be played on the following public holidays:

Labour Day: Mon 26 Oct 2026 (No play 23-26 Oct)

Auckland Anniversary: Mon 1 Feb 2027 (No play 29 Jan-1 Feb)

Waitangi Day: Sat 6 Feb 2027 (No play 5-8 Feb)

Easter: 26-29 March 2027 (No play 25-29 Mar)

Anzac Day: Sun 25 Apr 2027 (No play 23-26 Apr)
